Architecture

Oppida, the remains of a medieval castle, chapels, wash houses, ovens... compose an architectural patrimony of great diversity dating back to prehistoric, gallo-romain, and medieval times as well as to the 19th centuy.

Different types of fish live in its brooks and river : "chevennes", barbels, minnows, ablets, daces, gudgeons, trouts in a limited number.

Nature

Allègre-Les Fumades is a commune of nearly 2000 acres of preserved wood : holm oaks, holly, juniper, broom, thyme, rosemary, lavender. THe flora and fauna are also very rich : orchids, saponaria officinalis, catananche caerula, geranium... redstart, swift, magpie, lesser kestrel, sparrow hawk, Montagu's harrier, Bonelli's eagle, golden eagle, vulture, eagle owl, barn owl, fox.
